Take a fascinating journey into our universe and explore the stars, planets, constellations and other galaxies in our night sky. Georgia's wonderful planetariums and observatories have shows and educational programs for the public and schools. Click on blue links for info.
Bradley Observatory and Delafield Planetarium (84 17 38.98 W, 33 45 54.84 N) is an astronomical teaching and research facility located on the campus of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. The Observatory contains the 70-seat Delafield Planetarium and a 100-seat capacity lecture hall. The building also contains a library/seminar room, 3 faculty offices, a darkroom, a student computer lab, and an observing plaza for astronomical viewing. The large dome atop the Observatory houses the 30-inch Lewis H. Beck telescope. Located in Decatur Georgia.
Coca Cola Space Science Center - Meade Observatory & Omnisphere Theater Planetarium - The CCSSC in Columbus, GA is a division of Columbus State University (CSU). The Center Opened for the purpose of public education in space science, physics, and astronomy. CCSS has 4 major components and fun educational events. Located in Columbus Georgia.
Emory University Planetarium and Observatory - When the house lights go down, it’s a place to sit back in comfortable chairs, relax, gaze up and imagine that the 35-foot domed ceiling above really is filled with countless stars as it appears to be. Georgia Southern University Planetarium - Explore the Universe! We offer a variety of fun and exciting educational shows for all ages for school groups, clubs, and the public at no charge during the school year. We also offer wonderful public events monthly with astronomers, guest speakers, and telescopic observing outdoors following presentations. Located in Statesboro GA.
Hard Labor Creek Observatory - Located in the middle of Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge, Georgia the observatory is a resource for professional and amateur astronomers. However, an additional service of HLCO has been to the public - bringing the wonders of the Universe to Georgia residents. Take advantage of the dark skies, away from the light pollution. You will observe objects as near as the Moon and as far away as the edge of our visible Universe. Research telescopes are a 16" Boller & Chivens and a 16" Meade. Jim Cherry Memorial Planetarium - Explore a unique opportunity to learn about the night sky. This 500-seat theater is equipped with a 70-foot dome, a Mark V Zeiss star projector, and over 100 special effects projectors. Fernbank's 36-inch reflecting telescope is fitted with a full array of electronic enhancements. It is used for research, education, and is open to the public on many clear Thursday and Friday evenings. The planetarium is a celestial theater in the round, utilizing the complex Zeiss Mark V planetarium projector and a variety of special-effects projectors to guide the audience through the wonders of the universe. The 70-foot diameter planetarium, one of the largest in the United States, is dedicated to teaching and public enrichment. Located in Atlanta Georgia.

Mark Smith Planetarium has a 40-foot-diameter dome, 118 comfortable tilted seats, surround-sound stereo, and an electronically-automated image projection system. Various special effects can depict meteor showers, auroras, nebulae, alien atmospheres, and more! With Internet connection, satellite TV hook-up, and laserdisc/DVD video capability, virtually any still or moving image can be projected onto the dome, from movies, to live NASA-TV, online streaming video or digital slideshow presentations. Located in Macon GA.

James A. Smith Planetarium. - The Smith Planetarium has 92 seats and includes a 40’ dome that has at its center a new "Konica-Minolta MediaGlobe II Planetarium Projector". The planetarium building is handicapped accessible. Various audiovisual special effects enhance the presentations.Presentations are informal and flexible. Complexity may be adjusted up or down depending upon the maturity of the audience. Teachers should specify the desired program when making reservations. Otherwise, groups will be given a program at the discretion of the planetarium educator.

North Atlanta Planetarium - Telescope: Spitz A4RPY - Dome: 12.2 m dome with 120 V-chevron seats. Please call for information on school events and services. Located in Atlanta GA.
NGCSU George E. Coleman, Sr. Planetarium & Observatory - The star theater seats 46 and a Spitz 512 planetarium projector which can display 1000 northern and southern sky stars on a thirty-foot diameter dome. The effect is a realistic simulation of the night sky as seen from anywhere on the surface of the Earth. Planetarium shows for school groups or other organizations are available by reservation Monday through Friday, depending on class schedule during the semester. Free public shows are presented on Friday from 8 to 9 pm while NGCSU is in session. The primary mission of the planetarium is to provide science education for students and the general public. Free admission and parking. Located in Dahlonega Georgia.
Rollins Planetarium features a GOTO Chronos Space Simulator star projector. This state-of-the-art device uses light guide technology to project a realistic and beautiful starry sky. With high-speed, computer-calculated positioning, a simple click of a mouse sets the sky for any time in the past, present or future. The seating capacity is 109 people under a 40-foot-diameter dome. The new system utilizes six Sky-Skan edge-blended video projectors with digital light processing (DLP) technology to cover the entire dome with full-color, high resolution video. The college also has an observatory, located on Georgia state property near the Brasstown Valley Resort, only a short distance from campus. Located in Young Harris, Georgia.
Sunrise Planetarium - The planetarium at Camp Sunrise is well equipped with over 75 special effects projectors and video projection, and the main star projector. Most of the programs are fully computer controlled. We welcome you to schedule a group of 20 or more people by calling. You can choose the programs you would like to see. Located in Fairmount Georgia.
Tellus Planetarium & Observatory - Take a seat, lean back and prepare for an incredible ride in the Tellus planetarium. The digital projector will take you through our solar system to the edge of the galaxy and beyond. Adults and children of all ages will enjoy this unique experience. The past, present and future come alive at Tellus. Our four unique galleries are complemented by an observatory and a digital planetarium. Located in Cartersville Georgia.
The University of Georgia Observatory - Public nights are scheduled for open house. The 24-inch telescope at the University of Georgia will be open for public viewing once a month. If the nights are clear, those attending will be able to look through the telescope at the stars. If it's cloudy, there will be a brief talk on astronomy that is of current interest. Located in Athens GA.
University of West Georgia Observatory features a Cassegrain reflecting telescope having a mirror whose diameter is fourteen inches. It is mounted in an observing room whose dome has a diameter of sixteen feet. West Georgia's students and people from the surrounding area have observed the Sun, Moon, planets, nebulas, star clusters, and galaxies. The facilities are available for observation of solar and lunar eclipses. During 1985-1986, about 3000 people saw the Halley's comet using telescopes at the Observatory. Located in Carrollton Georgia.
VSU Planetarium - The 47-seat planetarium is equipped with a Spitz A3P projector and
reproduces the night sky with the moon, stars and planets. The VSU Planetarium serves as a valuable teaching tool and as a facility for an extensive public outreach program. We also offer 6 public planetarium shows each year. This evening series is Free of charge and open to the public. All our shows are suitable for ages 5 and up. Shows begin on Friday evenings at 8 pm and 9 pm sharp and last approximately 1 hour. The shows are followed by observatory open house, if weather permits. Seating is available by tickets only. Located in Valdosta Georgia.
