Line Creek Nature Center FunThis nature area is a 70-acre public preserve along Line Creek off Hwy 54 on the Fayette/Coweta County line.

This popular Nature Area offers a mix of habitats - an upland hardwood forest, granite outcroppings, and a rushing stream bordered by native azaleas. Visitors will enjoy a fishing dock on a small pond, a gazebo and several miles of nature trails.

From the parking lot there’s easy access to a picnic area next to a fishing pond with a gazebo and pier. The Council Circle is great for birthday parties and Scout meetings. Just beyond the pond two trails offer a quick escape to nature. To the right, the easy Ridge Trail leads you through a peaceful hardwood forest and then along the creek.

The Creek Trail to the left requires more sure footing, taking you down a slope and across granite outcroppings with unique xeric vegetation. Enjoy the native azaleas blooming in the spring. The reward is a scenic perch beside rushing Line Creek. Be careful— the rock can be slippery!
Adventurous hikers can follow the narrow trail south beside the creek which connects to a cart path and tot lot near Planterra Ridge. You will see the construction for Fayette County’s new reservoir Lake McIntosh.

The preserve may be used for gatherings at no cost, on a first come, first served basis. For info on primitive overnight camping, contact Southern Conservation Trust, 770-486-7774.
