Oconee River Campground Camping & General Information
Located on the bank of the Oconee River, this recreation area offers camping, picnicking, hiking, boating and fishing. 6 campsites with tables, tent pads and grills are available to campers.

Canoeing on the Oconee RiverHikers can enjoy the Scull Shoals Trail, which is 1 mile and originates at this area. The picnic area is located near the area entrance and has six picnic tables. The boat launch is located at the end of the main area road. Fishing for bass, crappie, bream and catfish is popular among visitors.

Check State fishing regulations before fishing. The main road through the campground is paved. Some of the campsites are accessible to people with disabilities. Restrooms are accessible too.

Campground Camping: Lake Oconee Recreation Area consistes of one loop with five tent sites. There are no hook ups available. There is a boat ramp, picnic area in this campground. Standard amenities include a grill, picnic tables, lantern post, etc. Upgrades to camp sites are nearly complete. Tent pads and picnic tables are all new. Please come by and see the improvements.

Reservations - Reservations are not required. Occupancy of sites are on a first come, first serve basis.

Fees: Camping - Camping: $5 per site site night. Day use for boat ramp parking and picnic area is $3 per vehicle.

Permit Info - Georgia fishing license, valid boating registration.

Restrictions - Alcohol is not allowed in the day use area. No generators are allowed.

Open: All Year. Open 24 hours a day. Quiet hours 10pm – 7am.

Restroom Facilities: Vault toilets for men and women seperately are available.

Oconee Forest SignClosest Town: The nearest town is approximately 13 miles, or 18 minutes,southeast in Greensboro, GA. Here campers will find restaurants, grocery stores, etc.

Annual Forest Pass: Available at the Oconee National Forest District Office. Located at 1199 Madison Rd. (US 441/129) Eatonton GA. This pass sells for $ 25 and is valid for US Forest Service boat ramps and day use areas throughout the Chattahoochee Oconee National Forest. This pass is half price for Senior Pass holders.

Interagency Federal Recreation Passes: Annual Pass: $80.00. Valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Senior Pass: $10. A lifetime pass for citizens or permanent residents of the U.S., age 62 and up.

Access Pass: Free. A lifetime pass for citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. who have a permanent disability, regardless of age.

The Golden Age and Access Passports are accepted. These passes entitle the pass holder to a 50% discount on camping fees.

Boating - Motorized - Single lane boat launch. Boat launch area has paved designated parking for 20 vehicles with trailers. Launch Ramps and Boat Launch. Fees: $ 3 per day per vehicle.

Directions From I-20 exit 130 - Drive north on GA-44 into downtown Greensboro Georgia. Turn left onto US-278 west travel approximately one third of a mile and turn right onto GA-15 north for 11.8 miles,entrance in on right.
