Carter's Lake embraces a spectacular tract of foothills scenery in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. Its sparkling waters and rugged shoreline provide a beautiful surrounding for a variety of recreational opportunities which include camping, fishing, picnicking, boating, mountain biking and hunting. Gordon County Parks & Recreation serves Resaca, Ranger, Plainville, and Fairmount. Organizes various leisure activities for those citizens including youth football, youth flag football, youth tackle football, youth cheerleading, youth soccer, youth baseball, youth, men’s, and women’s basketball, adult flag football, T-ball, and girls fast pitch softball. Ridgeway Mountain Bike Trail in Ridgeway Park at Carters Lake. The trail passes through mountain vegetation along high ridges then descends to cross small creeks. The main trail is a loop approximately 6 miles long. The trail is clearly marked with highly visible orange posts. Black (advanced) and White (intermediate) trail sections have been developed to challenge riders of various skills. Trail features include a mixture of single track and narrow logging roads along with short steep climbs, creek crossings and technical downhills. Time required to complete 1 loop ranges from 35 minutes for experts to over one hour for beginners. Trail can be accessed from several points along the main road. Salaco Creek Park has 373 acres with a 126 acre lake with fishing, boat ramp, rental boats, camping, restrooms, swimming beach, picnic tables and pavilion facilities. The county has plans to add a nature trail and some other items. Phone: 706-629-3490 - Located off I-75 and Exit 315 approximately 9 miles east of I-75.
